How to Sell Ebooks

Once you’ve completed the task of actually writing an ebook the next challenge is figuring out how to sell it. And while it’s not impossible to do, it does typically require quite a bit of preparation and knowledge when it comes to actually managing to convince customers to pull out their credit card and do business with you.

The most important aspect of all when it comes to selling ebooks is the ability to create a powerful sales message which converts browsers into buyers. The reason that this sales letter is so important is that the more visitors you can convince to buy from you, the easier everything else becomes.

For example, affiliates are more willing to promote you because they will earn higher commissions from you than some of your competitors. You can out compete other sites by paying more for traffic because you know you will make more back and so on.

Whilst entire books have been written on creating a winning sales letter, here are a few simple tips that will help you to get ahead of the competition with as little effort on your part as possible…

1) Use The AIDA Formula

When writing a sales letter it be difficult to know what to include, and in what order. After all, a successful sales letter runs smoothly along, like a slippery shoot, engaging readers and encouraging them to read all the way to the end of the page before ordering from you.

The AIDA formula helps to illustrate the important sections of your sales letter and their order. The acronym stands for “Attention, Interest, Desire, Action”.

In other words, start off with your headline and first paragraph aiming to grab the attention of your reader. Next, tell your visitor about what your ebook does. Create some interest and try to explain why your book is so good so as to create desire. At this point you may opt to include testimonials and/or bonuses to make the product even more desirable. Finally, include a call to action – tell them why they should buy today and how to do it.

2) Check Out The Competition

Once you understand this basic formula, it is a good idea to take a look at competing sites. Read through their sales letter and see what you like from theirs. Use their sites as inspiration and a source of ideas for your own. Take copious notes.

3) Brainstorm And Edit

Lastly, slot the two together, using your notes and your own ideas and putting them down into the logical pattern of the AIDA formula.
